Manchester City star Ruben Dias admitted his ‘dream weekend’ was watching Manchester United defenders Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand.
Dias has been one of the Premier League’s best players this season following his £ 65million arrival from Benfica last summer.
The Portuguese center-back has been almost always present in City’s recent 21-game winning streak and has only missed one league game in total this season.
But it looks like the 23-year-old may have learned some of his skills from the legends of rivals United.
Speaking to Red Devils hero Ferdinand on BT Sport, Dias revealed he loved watching him play together with Vidic, while admitting that he was also an admirer of former City man Kompany and Chelsea legend John. Terry.
Dias said: “When I was a kid watching the Premier League was my dream weekend, I watched a lot of games with you, Vidic, Kompany, John Terry, an endless list.
“From there you start to learn and I learned a lot from what I hear and what I see and just by watching I started to understand the league and the way you play.
“What makes the big difference is its competitiveness. Here you get the challenge every game and I think that’s what makes the league different and if you are successful it is because you can solve it multiple times.
Dias’ impact on the City squad has been undeniable this season, leading to comparisons with quadruple Premier League-winning skipper Kompany.

And the youngster showed why he might have the right frame of mind to fill these shoes.
“I didn’t feel any pressure – no one could put more pressure apart from the pressure I was putting on myself,” Dias added.
“People compare me to Vincent and I understand why people do it, but honestly for me you can’t replace Kompany because of everything he’s done. I have a lot of ambition, I want to win.
