A Wimbledon viewer accused of invading Meghan Markle's privacy after selfie said he did not know she was there.

Hasanov, 58, was confronted by Meghan's goalkeeper after leaving his phone in front of her as he took a selfie at the tennis tournament.

Meghan and two friends made a surprise appearance at Wimbledon's Court One last week to watch fellow American Serena Williams, a friend of the Duchess, play Kaja Juvan.

Hasan was asked to respect Meghan's privacy when a caretaker mistakenly thought that he was photographing the Duchess.

A royal protection officer confronted Hasan during the tournament

However, it turned out that he was taking a selfie which he shared a copy with The Sun.

He told the paper, "Honestly, I did not care to take a picture of Meghan, Harry, or any member of the royal family – and if I did, I would ask first.

"I was much more interested in a video of Roger Federer in action."

The Wimbledon superfan, from Azerbaijan, queued from 5 am to get a spot on the court – and described his seat as the best of 15 years of tournament participation.

The viewer thought that he did not have to take pictures of the players.

He decided to take a selfie to make his wife jealous not to have joined in his quest for early morning tickets.

When Meghan's guardian said to him, "Please, give them some privacy," he badumed that the officer was talking about taking pictures of the players.

He finally realized that he was sitting a few feet from the duchess when his daughter sent him a photo of the first page of The Sun regarding the ban on the royal photo.

Despite the scandal, Hasan, who lives in London for 20 years, says that he still loves the royal family very much.

He told the Sun: "I will not get angry because, to be honest, I did not know what was going on for a few days."

Meghan's security guard also told Sally Jones, sitting in the same row as the Duchess, not to take a picture of her during the match.

However, the former sports presenter of the BBC said that, like Hasan, she had not seen the Duchess and was taking photos of Serena Williams.
