Man sentenced to seven years in prison for kidnapping

The Koforidua Court of Appeal sentenced a cook to seven years' imprisonment for hard labor for kidnapping a four-year-old boy.

Samuel Offei, 41, pleaded guilty to the crime of kidnapping a student from the Royal Academy School in Okorase, a suburb of Koforidua, in the East region.

An ex-boyfriend of the victim's mother reportedly went to the boy's school during recess and took him to his new location in Asokore, another suburb of Koforidua.

Samuel, he said, was arrested after police collected information about where he was at the Salvation Army Church in Asokore Zongo.

DSP Tetteh added that the boy, who had been saved afterwards, was in good condition.
