Man United news: Vidic says Pogba can be the best in the world

Manchester United star Paul Pogba can become the best player in the world, according to Nemanja Vidic.

Pogba, 25, has been playing for United since interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho at the helm in December, directly contributing 15 goals (9 goals and 6 badists) in 12 games in all competitions.

The French midfielder appeared ready to leave Old Trafford before Solskjaer's arrival, but the Norwegian made the most of Pogba and his form helped United to climb to fourth place in the Premier League.

In an interview with Omnisport, Vidic, who spoke on behalf of TAG Heuer, the official timing partner of the Premier League, said Pogba was able to become the world's leading player.

"I think even when I was playing in a club, what you want from your leaders is that you want them to be an example," Vidic began.

"You do not want them to talk – sometimes yes, to encourage the players – but you want them to be an example." I think Paul is a great player, that he has a great talent and that he showed how good he was.

"But if he starts running and doing things like he does, I think he may even be aiming for other goals: individual rewards and maybe even becoming the best player in the world. "

Vidic became one of the fan favorites and became one of the best defenders of Europe during his stint at the club trophy between 2006 and 2014.

The former Serbian international and Pogba were briefly together at United before the latter left for Juventus in 2012.

Vidic thinks that Pogba recently showed how important it was for the Premier League club in their second run.

"He was in the reserve when I was at the club, he has trained a few times with us, he has always been technically good, very physical, he is present on the field," added Vidic.

"He also had some difficulties early and maybe recently, but in recent weeks he has played a very good football, I think he's one of the leaders of the team.

"If he continues to behave as he has performed, I think he's showing examples to other players." I think it's very important for quality players, players who have a reputation like that of Pogba, to win the World Cup, playing for Juventus, winning trophies.

"Some players look at him and so if he does these things, I think others will do more than him.

"Regarding this, I sometimes think even if it does not behave well, I think his character is very important to the team."
