Manchester United celebrated the 20th anniversary of its triumph in 1999 with the victory over a Bayern Munich Legends team at Old Trafford.
United's current boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – their hero that night at Nou Camp two decades ago – opened the scoring five minutes before Dwight Yorke brought home a delightful volley.
Nicky Butt and Louis Saha were in the lineup in the second half before David Beckham scored a superb fifth in front of a nostalgic home crowd with Sir Alex Ferguson in his position as manager.
Peter Schmeichel, Gary Neville, Ronny Johnsen, Denis Irwin, Nicky Butt, Jesper Blomqvist, Andy Cole, Teddy Sheringham, Beckham and Yorke were all back in United after their participation in the 1999 final.
At the age of 44, Beckham has always sided with the right wing, effortlessly achieving the deliveries that were so important to United's success on three fronts 20 years ago, with his superb solo goal to finish the day after -Friend perfect.
At the other end, Jaap Stam continued not to take prisoners as he did throughout his career, hitting Ivica Olic with a crucial challenge in the first period.
The Bayern players have simply jostled the Dutchman throughout the afternoon, offering United fans a glimpse of what the current team is sorely lacking in the background in his current incarnation.
Paul Scholes, who missed the 1999 final due to a suspension, was also introduced.
