Man Utd defender Axel Tuanzebe would “relish” a permanent exit from Old Trafford as he is “very happy” to be back at Aston Villa, according to reports.

The 23-year-old has joined Aston Villa on loan for the 2021/22 campaign. This is his third time at the West Midlands club.

Tuanzebe shone for them in 2018/19 as Villa secured a promotion to the Premier League.

The defender returned to Male Utd This summer. Tuanzebe played 29 times for the Red Devils in all competitions between 2019 and 2021.

With Raphael Varane joining the club this summer, opportunities were going to be hard to come by for the United youngster.

Tuanzebe signed a contract extension until 2023 with an option of an additional year this summer before joining Villa. He’s already played four times for the Villans this season.

The sun reported that Tuanzebe wants to join Villa as part of a permanent deal. He thinks Dean Smith “can get the best of him”:

A source reportedly informed The Sun that: “Axel is playing with a smile on his face. He loved the welcome Aston Villa fans gave him on his return to the club.

“He is very happy in the West Midlands and would be delighted with a permanent transfer to the club, should that happen.

“In Dean Smith, Axel thinks he has a boss who can get the best of him and who understands his game.

“He has plenty of minutes on the pitch and the experience will only improve his game.

“Axel would appreciate the opportunity to stay beyond this season and help the club win trophies.”

Elsewhere, Gary Neville called on Man Utd to sign Erling Braut Haaland next summer:

“I think Manchester United next year will probably lose Anthony Martial, they will lose Juan Mata [and] Edinson Cavani will be leaving because they took an extra year away from him. So that will free up places to be filled, ”said Neville.

“If Haaland becomes available next summer and they want to make a deal with their agent – which is most important with Haaland – then Manchester United should choose him. And I don’t think Cristiano’s coming is preventing Haaland from joining.

“Cristiano played with Karim Benzema, with Gareth Bale, with all these great Galacticos from Real Madrid. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wouldn’t put him on the bench, why would you put him on the bench? You can certainly fit two forwards into a team.
