Man Utd is incompetent, moves and rewrites a book on how not to do transfer business

For more than two decades, Manchester United has been the club that has not stopped marveling.

We should not be too surprised that they continue to do so.

Yet in the past – for more than two decades – the reason the jaws were dropped was brilliant and imposing in all areas.

Now, the reason for these open mouths is the opposite. . . it is for incompetence, to stammer and re-write the manual in general about how not to take care of your business.

When United's summer spending was first mentioned, executive vice-president Ed Woodward and Co had a hard time claiming the lost time.

They would no longer be lashing out at guys whose only taste for Old Trafford should have been part of an organized tour.

Nothing like sticking to your weapons, huh? Barely a month after the end of the season, Crystal Palace won the transfer lottery this summer.

When they quoted £ 50 million for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, they did not intend to scare United, but many in Selhurst Park thought it would be enough for them.

Fifteen days later, the 21-year-old right-back was already on Old Trafford's payroll and Palace was not laughing so much until the bank, he sneered uncontrollably.

This is not to find Wan-Bissaka. He is clearly a potential kid but no more than that at this stage.

Less than 50 league games to his credit, a player who will have a hard time being England's first-choice right-back as long as 20-year-old Liverpool Trent Alexander-Arnold does not impress.

With time, it can turn out to be a decent badet. But that's not the problem here.

However, this is the way Woodward and Matt Judge, the club's "business sealer," have changed the prospects for transfer.

There is now a generation of players for whom playing for United is no longer the pinnacle.

And not in a good way either. Not for potential buyers. Not if these potential buyers are on the Stretford side of Manchester.

We saw this when, with Wan-Bissaka, United turned to a midfielder and asked about John McGinn, of Aston Villa, who had bought for £ 3m from Hibs a year ago .

Now, however, they have evaluated this figure more than sixteen times, as £ 50 million has become a starting point for most of United's inquiries. That is why the price charged by Harry Maguire – already exorbitant – exploded up to £ 85m.

And Leicester is fully justified to do it too.

As for the replacement of Romelu Lukaku, it will cost as and when he will join Inter Milan? This will really make your eyes watery.

Filling the right rear slot – as they did with Wan-Bissaka – was only a requirement this summer, but the fourth priority was at best behind a center back, a midfielder and an attacker. This is before you launch into the prospect of a new guard if David De Gea does not sign a new contract and sells, instead of losing it for now, in a year.

If that was not enough, there is now a generation of players for whom playing for United is no longer the pinnacle.

They are no longer the dream, they no longer hold the traction they once had on the broken glbad step. Not without the Champions League and face a battle to return so soon.

Manchester United latest news

Not with Woodward and Judge swaying the carrots, unlike Sir Alex, David Gill and the chance to join a cast of stars.

Financial badistants and sponsors, they may be in the business world.

In the sport, they are still running in tatters.

And as long as the situation does not change and the transfer policy is not managed by a real footballer, they will not see any cuts at Old Trafford. Only cups.

WILF OFFERS JUD-DERS TO A HALT

APPARENTLY Crystal Palace thought that Wilfried Zaha's bid for Arsenal for £ 40 million was "embarrbading", and they were outraged by the suggestion of letting him go for such misery.

They may live in a parallel universe south of London, but gunners can offer what they want.

Just as Palace can reject any offer made to a player whose previous experience in a truly big club was not really an experience to tell.

The Eagles rate their winger at £ 120m, so good luck with that.

With Chelsea unable to buy, Liverpool and the two Manchester clubs are not in contention, and City does not need Zaha, there is only one other obvious destination.

But it is unlikely that Tottenham breaks his head after his brother Judicael insisted that Wilf had always dreamed of playing for Arsenal.

TRUE STORM IN A TACACHE

United States Alex Morgan has outraged some how she celebrated her World Cup goal against England by claiming to have a tea with her little finger.

It was hardly the most offensive gesture of the American poster. In fact, it made everyone who I watched the game smile – and no, none of them were Scottish either.

But far too many claimed everything, from disrespect to discredit. Talk about the generation of snowflakes replaced by that of tea leaves.

You'd better wait for an opportunity for revenge, then propose something that sums up and mocks the Yanks. . . perhaps an impression of an obese child would be a start.

RAF OFFER FOR PZAZZ

Of course, Nick Kyrgios may have tried to hit Rafa Nadal a little too literally – but by throwing the ball at him, he did not break any rules.

This did not stop those who love their athletes from being perfectly clean – from the stiff upper lip type – to sow the stench about the impossibility of doing that at the All England Club.

Personally, those who have interested me in the day were those of Jimmy Connors, IIie Nastase or, more specifically, John McEnroe. People with personality as well as pzazz.

Today's tennis has great talents, but they could not do it halfway with some characters. Nowadays, they are not bigger than Kyrgios.
