Man Utd news: Neville says that there will be a "mutiny" if Solskjaer does not find full-time work

The former United defender thinks that the Norwegian has done more than he could to justify staying in the hot seat of Old Trafford.

Gary Neville said that there would be a "mutiny" in Manchester United if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not get the role of full-time manager.

Solskjaer became acting director of United in December, replacing Jose Mourinho, and oversaw a significant turnaround at Old Trafford.

The Norwegian has lost only once since taking charge, a 2-0 defeat against PSG in the Champions League, and remains undefeated in the Premier League.

United drew 0-0 against Liverpool, the championship leader, at Old Trafford, despite four injuries in the game.

This result earned Solskjaer the record number of points of a manager in his first 10 Premier League matches, after taking 26 points out of the proposed 30 so far.

And Neville thinks his former teammate has done more than enough to warrant being named full-time director, with Old Trafford supporters chanting the Norwegian's name throughout Sunday's game.

"I do not think you can give it to anyone else, otherwise there would be a mutiny," Neville told Sky Sports.

"The fans were singing for him, I think it's very close now, I do not see the club going."

"We learned a lot about the club atmosphere during this second period." Three months ago, they sang "attack, attack, attack" and today, we sang the name of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the whole second half.

"The atmosphere has changed completely, the atmosphere was one of the best I've seen at Old Trafford for years and it was 0-0!

"If Manchester United scored, it would have been incredible."

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay agreed with Neville on the feeling on the pitch: "I have never played in an atmosphere like this today"

United fell to fifth place with the draw, while Arsenal placed them fourth with their 2-0 win over Southampton on Sunday.
