Paul Pogba told friends that he had no plans to stay at Manchester United and that he wanted to join Real Madrid this summer, according to reports.

The winner of the French Pogba World Cup was closely linked to the move to Madrid last summer, but United's chief, Ed Woodward, blocked the transfer.

But, a year later, Pogba is still determined to force his move to Bernabeu and confided to close friends that he did not see his future in Manchester, according to the Daily Mail.

Real Madrid and new director, Zinedine Zidane, also want to see Pogba come through the door, while they are looking to compete in the national and European markets next season.

Manchester United insisted that Pogba, who returned to Old Trafford in 2016, is not for sale and that Woodward would be personally desperate to keep control of the midfielder.

But it is claimed that United will listen to offers exceeding 160 million pounds, knowing that there is no point in keeping Pogba at the club against his will.

Pogba, according to the Daily Mail, is worried about the lack of progress made by Manchester United since its highly publicized return three years ago.

While his mood improved after José Mourinho was replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the 26-year-old would see his long-term future in Madrid.

Pogba's chances of leaving will strengthen if the Red Devils, as expected, do not qualify for the Champions League. The Solskjaer team is currently sixth with two games to play.

Solskjaer, who has seen his squad struggling for the past six weeks after a first comeback after his arrival, wants to sign two midfielders this summer, whether Pogba left or not.

Ander Herrera should leave, while Juan Mata is also linked to a departure.

Solskjaer said Friday about Mata's future: "It's up to him to decide. I've had words with him and he knows how much I respect him.

"I was so happy for him last week; it would have been so much more enjoyable for him to sit and talk about Juan scoring the winning goal against Chelsea.

"He's a great pro and we'll see if they can get along."

Pogba was one of the best Manchester United players in the 2018-1919 campaign, scoring 17 goals and 10 badists in 56 games in all competitions.

The Solskjaer team will face Huddersfield on Saturday before finishing the season at home in Cardiff City.
