Manchester United is about to sign an agreement with Swansea City to sign the Welsh international Daniel James, according to reported information.

Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made James, 21, a key target as he prepares for his first full season at the club's helm.

The Welsh winger had a great season in the championship for Swansea, scoring six goals and seven badists in 39 games.

His performances in the second English group drew the attention of Manchester United and the Premier League giants were stuck in talks with Swansea about a summer contract.

The Red Devils were hoping to get James's signature at a bargain price of £ 10 million, but Swansea held out for about double that figure.

Evening Standard says the two clubs are now on the verge of reaching an agreement, but that United's hand is a little forced by Monaco.

The French club has expressed interest in signing James in recent days, which would have led United to intensify its efforts to reach an agreement with Swansea.

James, for his part, would have the heart to move to Old Trafford, which would reduce the possibilities to Leeds United and Brighton.

Manchester United and Solskjaer have targeted James after conceding defeat in Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho signing.

Solskjaer wants to bring a number of talented British players to the Theater of Dreams this summer. United would be willing to offer a £ 200 million transfer.

United is also reported to be in contact with Leicester City midfielder James Maddison, who is valued at around £ 60 million.

The club's interest in Maddison comes as Real Madrid redouble efforts to sign the winner of the French World Cup Paul Pogba.
