Manchester United have asked Real Madrid to forget Paul Pogba's signing this summer, according to reports in Spain.

The French international is one of Zinedine Zidane's priority targets for the summer transfer window as he seeks to rebuild his Madrid team.

Pogba, meanwhile, would like to leave United this summer and is ready to meet Zidane at Santiago Bernabeu.

According to AS, Madrid would have started discussions on an agreement with Pogba and asked United to set a price for the midfielder.

But United's answer was that Pogba was not for sale this summer and they did not intend to unload the 26-year-old, who remains the key to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans.

Madrid is asking Pogba to tell United that he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer to move the negotiations forward.

Reports in Spain also claimed that Zinedine had a disagreement with Florentino Perez on a transfer to Pogba, with the Madrid president preferring to sign with Christian Eriksen.

Speaking last week, Eriksen said he would be ready to leave Tottenham to join Madrid this summer.

"I feel like I'm a place in my career where I might want to try something new," Eriksen told Ekstra Bladet.

"I have the most savage and deepest respect for everything that has happened in Tottenham. But I also said that I would like to try something new.

"Real Madrid is a step forward, but then Real Madrid should pick up the phone and contact Tottenham and say that he wants Christian, and that has not been done as far as I know."
