A member of the Manchester United back room was taken to hospital after falling ill overnight in Australia.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's players arrived in Perth on Monday for the start of their pre-season tour and held an open training session at WACA on Thursday night.

United confirmed later in the evening that a staff member had been admitted to Perth Hospital.

A spokesman for the club said, "A member of our staff in the back shop was sick all night and was sent to the hospital by our club doctor for further treatment.

"We ask that medical confidentiality be respected."

United will face the Perth Glory at Optus local stage in a friendly Saturday and then face Leeds before the tour continues in Singapore and China.

Seven new Journalist Amelia Broun made the point on Friday morning saying that "the man in his fifties is in a stable state after an alleged overdose".
