Manchester United has made a breakthrough in talks to keep local hero Marcus Rashford at the club in the long run.

The striker said he was ready to sign a new contract that would keep him in the club until 2025, after positive discussions that aimed to make him one of the best Top Paid Players at Old Trafford.

And executive vice president, Ed Woodward, is confident that he will be able to announce a new contract for the 21-year-old player in the coming weeks.

Rashford had doubts about his future in United with Jose Mourinho and had announced a start looking for a more regular first team football.

United is also in talks with Guardian David de Gea, but the Spanish international said it was not yet ready to sign a new contract even though talks are continuing. Juan Mata and Ashley Young have also been offered new offers.
