Man Utd transfer summary: Red Devils ‘win the race’ for Brazilian starlet Paul Pogba to turn around

In early December there was huge speculation about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future as Manchester United boss.

The Red Devils had crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of RB Leipzig and they found themselves far away from the Premier League leaders.

Fast forward a month and a half and things look a lot rosier at Old Trafford.

United are at the top of the table by two points and have negotiated an impressive tough game, with wins over Burnley and Fulham and a draw at Liverpool in their last three league games.

Paul Pogba’s performances played a key role in returning to form, and there is growing confidence the Frenchman could stay at Old Trafford despite his agent’s claim he would like to leave.

Meanwhile, United have reportedly won the race to sign a promising young Brazilian, while a defender is expected to leave before the end of the January window.

United about to land Brazilian starlet

Manchester United are in pole position to sign promising Palmeiras striker Gabriel Veron, according to sport .

The report adds that United are the favorites to sign Veron, 18, ahead of local rivals Manchester City and La Liga giants Barcelona.

United are believed to have worked behind the scenes to secure the Brazil youth international, who can play on both flanks and has 15 goals in 34 senior appearances for Palmeiras.

Arsenal were also linked with Veron in December and manager Mikel Arteta are said to be an admirer.

Pogba turns around on the maps

Clashing with his agent Mino Raiola for the second time, Paul Pogba insisted he was happy at Manchester United after scoring the winner at Fulham earlier this week.

Pogba’s fine form and United’s rise in the Premier League table mean that Old Trafford bosses are increasingly hopeful that the Frenchman will sign an extra time at the club, according to various reports.

“I love winning, it’s all about winning. I’ll always be happy when I win, and I’ll always be happy when I’m on the pitch,” said Pogba.

“Today we won, so I’m happy. The day we lose, I’ll be angry again. It’s me.”

In December, Raiola claimed Pogba was “unhappy” with United and said he would like to leave Old Trafford.

Rojo is biding his time

Marcos Rojo will wait until February 1 transfer deadline before deciding on next move, Argentinian media claim TyC Sports .

The report adds that Rojo has agreed in principle to return to his homeland to join Boca Juniors, but is waiting to see if a European club will submit an offer for him.

The 30-year-old defender has not played for Manchester United this season and his contract at Old Trafford expires this summer.
