Man Utd wants two big sealed transfers before pre-season

Manchester United would look to sign two important signatures before the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer team will come back for pre-season training next month.

United boss Solskjaer is expected to see his team again this summer after a disappointing season in which the Red Devils missed the Champions League next season and did not win silverware.

The club is looking for new faces at Old Trafford in the coming weeks, the goal being to mix youth and experience.

And The Sun reports that the US hierarchy hopes to close at least two deals before the beginning of July and has made finding a defender a priority.

According to the publication, the club reportedly detained several defenders, including captain Matthijs de Ligt of Ajax and Toby Alderweireld of Tottenham, while Kalidou Koulibaly and Thomas Meunier would also be targeted.

A source from United, told the newspaper: "Some Carrington staff members expected to wait for at least two new faces to visit before the July 1st training.

"The red carpet is being rolled out to potential recruits and their agents, showing them everything we have to offer.

"We are confident that a couple is about to cross the finish line. Discussions are going well and took place before the end of last season.

"There could be up to four who join the rest of the team on the next tour to Australia and the Far East."

In addition to strengthening his defensive ranks, Solskjaer is also expected to strengthen his midfield before the end of the summer.

Ander Herrera has already left the club and should join PSG through a free transfer, while questions remain about the future of Paul Pogba and Juan Mata.

And Solskjaer has already been badociated with several targets, including Joao Felix, Benfica player, Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes and French playmaker Adrien Rabiot, who will be available for a free transfer from PSG.

Meanwhile, Daniel James is expected to become Solskjaer's first rookie since he became United's boss.

The Wales winger underwent a medical examination in Carrington after an agreement of 18 million pounds sterling was agreed with Swansea.
