Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford said he was subjected to “humanity and social media at its worst” after being the victim of racist abuse on Saturday night.
The 22-year-old, who received the MBE for his work to fight child food poverty, received several racist messages on Instagram on Saturday.

“I am a black man and I live proud to be every day,” he said on twitter.

“I have beautiful, colorful children following me and they don’t need to read it. Beautiful colors that shouldn’t be celebrated.”
Speaking in the match of the day, former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright said authorities and social media companies need to do more to identify the perpetrators.
He said: “It seems like a fact if a black player plays badly – or he thinks he did – he comes with all the emojis and everything. There are ways that you can catch people. are not vigilant enough anywhere near.
“It should be something they do hand in hand [authorities and social media sites]. But how much do they care deep down? “

The Football Federation reiterated its commitment to tackle discrimination of all kinds earlier on Saturday.
