FLORENCE, Arizona – US immigration officials have announced the death of a Mexican who showed signs of the flu this week.
According to ICE, Abel Reyes-Clemente, 54, died two days after being treated for flu symptoms. He was detained at the Florence Treatment Center, about 105 km southeast of Phoenix, and was in custody since his release from a Phoenix area jail on Feb. 26.
Reyes-Clemente is the fourth person ICE has been dying since October.
According to ICE, Reyes-Clemente was placed under medical observation on Monday after showing flu symptoms. The staff found him insensitive and did not breathe early Wednesday morning. The medical staff tried to resuscitate him but could not.
He was declared dead in a medical center.
