The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) called for the immediate opening of police investigations into death threats against investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni.

Manasseh, on a Joy News broadcast, revealed how an NPP enthusiast threatened to “wipe him out” from his recent article titled “Akufo-Addo MISTAKE Commission and Coup”, discussed the pockets electoral violence and offenses that even left many voters deprived of their rights.

In response to this development, the GJA also called on President Akufo-Addo to intervene in the protection of the journalist in order to promote freedom of the press.

“The GJA calls on the president, who is the commander-in-chief of the Ghanaian armed forces, to condemn the death threats against journalists and to give firm assurance as to their safety and security,” demanded a statement signed by the secretary general. from the Association. .
