The investigative journalist Manbadeh Azure Awuni resigned from the Multimedia group seven years after working for the Kokomlemle-based press house.

The resignation of Manbadeh comes just a week after the National Media Commission (NMC) described the "militia at the heart of the nation," which he wrote for JoyNews, a subsidiary of Multimedia Group, as misleading and as a false statement.

The 22-minute documentary sought to show that the group, D-Eye, had been discovered and operated at Christianborg Castle in Osu, Accra, a "security zone" with the complicity of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) – led government.

The government filed a petition against Joy News's "Militia Documentary" with the National Media Commission (NMC) and asked for a retraction order and an apology.

Earlier, the management of the media company apologized after the documentary attempted to suggest that the president was aware of militia activities at the castle, but refused to order their evacuation, noting that it was not certainly not the case. .

"Our documentary did not create such an impression, and I think it's important to emphasize this point," said Malik Daabu, editor of myjoyonline. "Our documentary only consisted of reporting what was going on … the only thing our documentary mentioned was that the person who was running this group was a former bodyguard of the president while he was not the only person in the group. was not president.

"He (Nana Akufo-Addo) was an ordinary citizen, candidate of a political party. Our documentary actually indicated that this person had been fired. The unfortunate impression that the President was treating them while she condemned these acts was not based on our documentary and it is important to point out that such impressions or such inconveniences caused the President is regretted. "

It is unclear why Manbadeh resigned, but sources say he was unhappy. Management is excused in this regard.

In a note posted on his personal website, he expressed his deepest gratitude to his former employers, colleagues and all those who helped him.

It reads:

I thank the management of the company for giving me the opportunity to work with what I consider to be Ghana's most credible, influential, hard-hitting and audacious media organization. I thank them for their support and encouragement during all these years. There is no doubt that if I were to work again in a newspaper company in Ghana, I would choose The Multimedia Group.
