Investigative journalist Manasseh Azuri Awuni says he received a death threat for an article he wrote on the results of the parliamentary elections.
The controversial journal, in its recent article titled; “Akufo-Addo MISTAKE and Coup Commission,” discussed pockets of electoral violence and infractions that even left many voters disenfranchised.
Manasseh, in this article, even warned of a parliamentary coup in 2021 if the situation is not verified.

Recounting his ordeal in the Joy News Newsfile, the reporter read a death threat he received via text message from an obvious supporter of the ruling New Patriotic Party. In this inflammatory message, the sender makes known his intention to “eliminate” Manasseh before destroying the peace of the country.
He then refers to Ahmed Suale of blessed memory who was shot in cold blood by unknown assailants.
Manasseh Azuri has been at the forefront, fighting the evils of corruption with his stories and investigative articles. Sadly, the Accra-based journalist had – at one point in his career – to seek refuge in the United States as his life and family were in danger.
Ghana’s 2020 elections have been documented by many political scientists as the most controversial and bloodiest.
The election results reported by the returning officer to the president – Jean Mensa – confirm that John Mahama was unable to collect 50 votes plus one. The results show that John Mahama polled 6,214,889 while Nana Addo collected 6,730,413 votes.
The NDC opposition fiercely rejected the election results. John Mahama described it as flawed and rigged. Party supporters also protested at the Election Commission headquarters on several occasions against the results.

Political scientists from the Department of Political Science at the University of Ghana argue that forming a parallel government is unconstitutional. Such acts can even trigger offenses of treason.
The editor of the newspaper of the crusades said that the results of the presidential and parliamentary elections were published in the Gazette. He believes it will only take a Supreme Court judgment to overturn the election results.
