Any hope that Manchester United could have saved its topsey-turvey season by lifting silver clothing was dealt a severe blow Saturday as it escaped the FA Cup after a 2-1 defeat to the outside of Wolves.
The defeat leaves the Champions League as the only way for the team to win a trophy this weekend. But that dream also failed when Old Gunnar Solskjaer's team drew Barcelona in the quarterfinals on Friday.
It was out of the question for the manager to take Saturday's game lightly, with Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Nemanja Matic all starting in Moleneux against the big players in the Premier League. Jesse Lingard and Ander Herrera have also returned to the side.
Fred, Andreas Pereira and Scott McTominay had been added to the team in recent weeks and performed particularly well in United's 3-1 game against Paris Saint-Germain last week.

The three players were dropped for the trip to the West Midlands, but not everyone agrees that it was the wisest approach for Solskjaer. some fans think that this trio of fringes would have added an extra touch to a tired side.
