The Chilean disappointed since joining the club after joining Arsenal and could still leave Old Trafford this summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said that he would not "spoon" Alexis Sanchez while the Chilean is looking to put his career back to Manchester United on track.

Sanchez has been especially disappointed since his arrival at United from Arsenal in January 2018, as part of an exchange that allowed Henrikh Mkhitaryan to change course.

The 30-year-old has scored just five goals in 45 caps with United, including only one in the Premier League last season.

Publisher's choice

Sanchez has been badociated with an Old Trafford outing this summer, but his huge salary of £ 500,000 a week will make any transfer difficult.

Solskjaer, however, did not reveal much when asked if he was planning to have Sanchez at Old Trafford this season, saying, "For the moment, yes, I am."

The manager was then asked if he thought it was possible for Sanchez to find the best of himself and he objected again.

"I'm going to have to help, but you can not feed them with a spoon," said Solskjaer. "They have to come in and take their chances.

"Alexis is of good quality and he showed it to Copa America, then he had his injury, I do not think it's too serious, so I hope it's available for maybe Kristiansund. " [on July 30] or AC Milan [four days later] so he will have at least a little football before the start of the season. "

After scoring two goals in the first five games of the tournament, Sanchez suffered hamstring injury in Chile's 2-1 defeat of Argentina in third place at Copa America earlier this month.

Sanchez is not the only player able to leave Old Trafford this summer. Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku are among a host of other names to badociate with a club outing.

Solskjaer said he wanted to give Pogba a "new challenge" with United after the star of France expressed his desire to leave last month.

Lukaku was linked to a move to Inter and although Solskjaer did not deny the potential sale, he insisted that United would need a backup plan for that to happen occurs.

"If we sell players, we will have to replace them," said Solskjaer.
