Manchester United to copy Liverpool transfer plan by signing major signatures – Ray Parlor | Football | sport

This is the verdict of the former Arsenal midfielder, Ray Parlor.

Manchester United have signed the only signing so far this summer, while winger Daniel James will join Swansea for an initial £ 15 million Wednesday.

But the Red Devils should do a lot more business after the disappointing result of last season.

They finished sixth in the Premier League standings under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, thus missing the qualifications.

United was 31 and 32 points behind the top two, Liverpool and Manchester City, respectively.

Parlor however noticed that City and, in particular, Liverpool had spent a lot, but wisely, on the recent player transfer windows they needed.

In January 2018, Liverpool signed Virgil van Dijk for £ 75 million, which is still a right to transfer the world record for a defender.

They also brought the Alisson keeper for 66 million pounds sterling, making him the most expensive guardian of the time.

Parlor knows that it will take a lot of expense for United to catch up with one or the other of its rivals.

But he says that with time, they will regain their original status, fighting over major honors.

"Recruitment is so important in any club," Parlor told talkSPORT.

"You look at what Man City did. When they needed players, they went to buy them.

"Liverpool did exactly the same thing, they needed a goaltender and got Alisson, who needed a center [Virgil] Van Dijk – and suddenly, they win trophies.

"I think Manchester United will be very similar in the future.

"I think Man United is realistic, they are looking at Man City and Liverpool and they are well behind them at the moment.

"But they will be back because they are Manchester United.

"Sometimes it works in cycles and they just have to involve the right players."
