According to Manchester United, chief executive Ed Woodward wants to sign a contract before calling the next permanent boss of Old Trafford, but it will not be on the ground.
Woodward would apparently like to have a football director before embarking on a serious recruiting venture, but that did not stop the rumor from spinning.
The young Bristol City player, Antoine Semenyo, the race for which United has participated alongside Chelsea, is a name that continues to attach to United. The club sent scouts to monitor the Newport County loan player in December and, according to Brian Tinnion of Bristol City. the red devils "really like it."
Here is the status of United's winter transfer activities.
Paul Mitchell
This position of football director has become a priority for United's hierarchy since the dismissal of Jose Mourinho. Paul Mitchell of RB Leipzig is the favorite.
Woodward was previously interested in former Juventus manager, Giuseppe Marotta, and current sporting director of Old Lady, Fabio Paratici.
But Marotta was transferred to Inter Milan, rival of Serie A, and Paratici has clearly announced his intention to stay in Turin, ending United's hopes of attracting one or the other. Another of these men.
This in turn left the Englishman Mitchell at the front of the line.
Antoine Semenyo
Chelsea would be ready to fight united against the Bristol City youth.
Londoner Semenyo made his debut for City at the end of last season and scored six goals for Newport – the Robins claiming a £ 2m allowance when he left Ashton Gate.
Mirror Sport revealed in December that United had sent scouts to monitor Semenyo.
Scott McTominay
Not a new face, but the club was naturally delighted to tie the Scottish midfielder to a new contract that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2023.
And the boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was not the only one to smile.
The man himself said, "Manchester United has been my life since the age of five and playing for the club I have always supported is everything I've always wanted to do.
"I am still young and I learn all the time from the manager, his coaching staff and the world clbad players of the team."
