The Dutchman believes his former employers lack "quality" in several areas of the field and urged the Norwegian boss to clean dead wood
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has "tough decisions" this summer to revive the club's fortunes, according to Jaap Stam.
The Red Devils are a decreasing force since Sir Alex Ferguson's departure in 2013, replaced by noisy neighbors, Manchester City, who replaced them at the top of English football.
Sixth place in the Premier League this weekend, United beats a new record, without trophy or qualification in the Champions League for his efforts under Solskjaer.

The Norwegian was appointed to replace José Mourinho on an interim basis in December. He was fired after a disastrous first half of campaign in 2018-19.
After overseeing 14 wins in his first 17 league games, Solskjaer was rewarded with a three-year contract, but the results took a major turn afterwards.
Significant rebuilding work has been launched at Old Trafford this summer, with a number of inputs and outputs expected while the transfer window is open.
Stam, who returned to the Theater of Dreams for a triple charity match against Bayern Munich on Sunday, advised Solskjaer to impose his authority on the current team in order to influence real changes.
"I think we could definitely have more quality in front, midfield and the other four as well," said United's former defender. Sky sports.
"You want a competitive team to one another – everyone has to push themselves to get the most out of each – to achieve something.
"As a manager and as a club, you have to look at it, and after the last two seasons and the evolution of the situation, I think it's good to re-evaluate everything.
"Look at the players, what they have done and what they have achieved, even players who have a contract for three or four more seasons – you have to make your choices about them and what you want to do with them. "
"At the end of the day, the most important thing is to reach the goals you have set, and sometimes you have to make tough decisions to do it."

Since the end of the season, United is badociated with a large number of prominent transfer targets, including Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt, who had been promoted to a transfer of £ 65 million to Old Trafford.
