NEW YORK – Your fare in Manhattan will increase after a judge lifted a temporary restraining order that blocked state-imposed congestion surcharges on taxis and other rental vehicles.
The new shipping costs will begin Saturday at midnight. Taxi travel will cost $ 2.50 less than 96th Street. .
The fees were to start on January 1, but the drivers took action against the proposed $ 2.50 for yellow taxis and $ 2.75 for the other rental vehicles.
The money raised would go to the funding of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
The New York Taxi Workers' Alliance described these charges as an "additional crushing burden" for drivers.
On Thursday, the judge of the state Supreme Court also allowed the case to advance by rejecting a request by the state to reject the lawsuit.
Governor Andrew Cuomo issued a statement in which he states that they "are moving forward with a comprehensive plan for congestion pricing".
