Blink-182 singer Mark Hoppus is badociated with Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low to form the new Simple Creatures band.
The pop-punk pair announced the group's news earlier in the day (Jan. 24), as well as the launch of "Drug," their first title. You can listen below, before the arrival of a full EP in March.
Speaking to Kerrang, Hoppus explained how 'Drug' was chosen as the first single after its popularity with close friends.
"Drug is always the first song we play when we introduce them to Simple Creatures. So it makes sense that this is the first single, "explained Hoppus.
"I love the guitar mine, which is twisted, mixed with the bbad drum. At the level of lyrics, the song speaks of destruction by the things you love. "
Gaskarth said, "The drug is a song that talks about someone or something you want most, and that is terrible for you … I feel good as long as it's not the case, but then you will not be able to stop.
"In the studio, we immediately had the impression that it was the song that best defined Simple Creatures; it's crispy, dirty, rooted in the musicality we both evoked, but with a twist away from everything we've worked on. "
However, there is no risk that Hoppus will put Blink-182 on the back burner. It was recently revealed that they were working on a new song with The Chainsmokers.
