However, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has now lodged a complaint that lenses can only be sold under an optometrist, optician or doctor.

iSpyEyes responded to the complaint, arguing that colored contact lenses could be sold in the UK and in the European Union without the supervision of an eye care practitioner.

They provided legal advice that the products were not covered by the Opticians Act 1989, as they were not designed to correct, correct or relieve vision defect.

Meanwhile, Marnie's response through her attorneys highlighted the FAQ section of the website, which stated "you should visit your optician for a pre-purchase goal adjustment because all of our goals are daunting. unique ", adding that she did not encourage dangerous purchases.

However, the Advertising Standards Authority argued that fans and consumers would badume that zero-power contact lenses could be legally sold by the advertiser in the UK.

Although the ASA also pointed out that the Eyecare Trust had informed people that lens wear, prolonged wear, and poor hygiene habits could all lead to eye infections or even a loss of health. vision.

The NHS even encouraging people not to "wear contact lenses, including fancy lenses, that are not well fitted to their eyes".

The General Council of Optics was also contacted, which stated that sales were illegal if they were not sold by registered specialists or under their supervision.

The ASA stated: "We have seen no evidence that the lenses were sold by a licensed optometrist, licensed optician or licensed physician, or under his personal supervision.

"It was therefore illegal to sell them on the iSpyEyes.com website to UK consumers.

"We told iSpyEyes and Marnie Simpson not to encourage a dangerous practice or to imply that they could legally sell contact lenses without any power in the UK."

At the same time, Marnie's spokeswoman said: "Marnie takes seriously the concerns expressed and will treat ASA's decision in the proper manner."
