Think of the iconic strikers of the Brazilian World Cup and the names of Ronaldo and Pelé will probably come immediately to mind.
But what about Marta? Her 16th goal – a penalty kick in a 3-2 loss to Australia on Thursday – means that she has now scored one more goal in the World Cup than Ronaldo and four more than Pele.
She was already the record holder of the Women's World Cup and her last strike made her the only player – man or woman – to find the net at five different editions.
She's gone at half-time against Australia, but if she scores one, she'll record the all-time record for most World Cup goals. She is currently at the level of Miroslav Klose, although she played six times less (18) than the German.

In terms of goals scored, the record of the 33-year-old makes him the outstanding striker of the Brazilian World Cup.
She has more goals and a record of minutes per goal than any of her compatriots.

But a blatant omission from his glittering resume is a World Cup winners' medal. She was a finalist in 2007, while Ronaldo won in 1994 and 2002 (but also a losing finalist in 1998) and Pelé won three (1958, 1962 and 1970) out of four.
Given that her team-mate Formiga is in her seventh World Cup and is still strong at age 41, Marta has plenty of time to add that elusive honor.
Iconic moments of the Brazilian World Cup
The greatest legends of the World Cup tend to be badociated with iconic tournament moments.
Who could forget Pelé's attempt to score from the center line against Czechoslovakia in 1970 and the model attempt of Uruguayan goalkeeper Ladislao Mazurkiewicz in the same tournament, not to mention the three times he won the trophy.
The curious case of Ronaldo in the 1998 final – when he was left out of the road map and then reinstated – fell into the folklore of the World Cup.
But his magical moment on the pitch came when he scored two goals to banish these demons and get redemption four years later, in a 2-0 win over Germany.
Marta has not yet taken advantage of a winning moment in a tournament … but this one was rather special.
Faced with the United States in the United States in 2007, she created a sumptuous rear wheel to overtake the ball past Tina Ellertson, followed by a false shot in front of Cat Whitehill before converting to a 4-0 win.

Despite her great success in the World Cup, Marta is well behind the top scorers of the women's match.
She is considered the best player of all time. Australian opponent Sam Kerr said: "She will probably be the best player in women's football".
Retired American Abby Wambach holds the all-time record with 184 goals, while Christine Sinclair – in action for Canada in this tournament – has 181 goals.
Mia Hamm, another American legend, scored 158 times for her country.
Marta's penalty in Montpellier was his 105th in Brazil's jersey.
