Martin Amidu destroys Ayariga's call records at MTN's headquarters

In order to seize the bull of corruption, the special prosecutor Martin Alamisi Amidu, who may not wish any interference, went to the headquarters of telecommunications giant MTN, to demand the newspapers of calls of Mahama Ayariga on Thursday, January 24th.

Earlier, an Accra circuit court had ordered Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN) to produce reports of a conversation between Mahama Ayariga, a member of Bawku Central's parliament and an official of the Ghana Revenue Authority ( GRA).

But in a brief rebuttal, Mr. Ayariga ordered his lawyers to challenge the Court's direction to prevent the Special Prosecutor from acting.

"I, Mahama, Ayariga, would gladly have personally handed over my MTN call registrations to Mr. Martin Amidu, if he had just asked me directly, so he will see that I have not never called Mr. Kwasi's phone Gyimah-Asante, do not know who Kwasi Asante-Gyimah is.

"However, I think that in order to clarify the law protecting the privacy of Ghanaian citizens' communications on mobile telecommunications platforms and to create appropriate precedents, the breath of the court decision should be subject to legal control I have therefore instructed my lawyers accordingly, "he said.
