The country's largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), has cut vehicle production for the fifth consecutive month in June, according to a regulatory report.
The automaker announced a 15.6% reduction in total vehicle production, including commercial supercargoes, last month, to reach 11,917 units, compared to 1,32,616 units the year before.
Total production of pbadenger cars totaled 1,096,641 units last month, down 16.34% from 1 31,068 units in June 2018.
The major automobile reduced the production of mini-segment vehicles, including models such as Alto, from 48.2% to 15,087 units last month, compared with 29,131 units in the same period last year.
Similarly, it reduced by 1.46% the production of cars of the segment of the compact vehicles like Wagon®, Swift and Dzire, to reach 66 436 units in June, against 67 426 units previously.
Commercial vehicle production declined 5.26% to 17,074 units from 18,023 units in June of last year.
The company said the production of minivans dropped 27.87% to 8,501 units last month, from 11,787 units in June 2018.
The automotive market leader had reduced total production by more than 18% in May. Likewise, it had reduced production by about 10% in its factories in April.
In March, the company announced a 20.9% reduction in production, while in February it had reduced production by more than 8%, from 1 62 524 units to 1 48 959 units at the end of the year. last month's production.
Automakers have been dealing with muted sales for some time now. The slowdown has forced companies to adjust their production schedules to market demand.
Car manufacturers such as Mahindra & Mahindra (M & M) and Tata Motors also announced an adjustment in their production to reduce market demand in order to reduce inventories.
In May, wholesale sales of pbadenger vehicles in India registered the largest decline in almost 18 years, down more than 20% due to continued weakness in retail sales.
May's decline was the worst since September 2001, when sales had dropped 21.91%.
In fact, with the exception of last October, when sales rose 1.55%, pbadenger car sales were negative in 10 of the last 11 months.
Retail sales of pbadenger vehicles, however, were comparatively better in May. According to the FADA of auto dealers, retail sales fell 1% to 2 511 049 units compared to the same period last year.
