We all know that death in the film universe of Marvel has become a relative process because everyone can be resurrected for everything from the soul stone to the quantum realm, not to mention the Stark Gauntlet and the Infinity Stones. Some of the deaths seem definitive at the moment, although some of the characters are somewhere in the middle.
Steve Rogers / Captain America is in the middle between disappearing in the past and ultimately living, creating a parallel world or a world where he has existed twice in the years 2010.
According to a recent revelation from Marvel's Comic-Con, there was a different plan on what would happen to Captain America. The original idea was to kill Cape in a very macabre way, which some fans think of as a DC territory. Maybe Captain America will really die in a future MCU movie.
Recap of the approach to death in the recent Marvel films
Few MCU fans like to see their favorite superhero die of a gruesome death. Although many characters have already bitten the dust (literally) in War of Infinity, we've all seen the power of the Stark Gauntlet and Infinity Stones revive a lot with Hulk.
You may have noticed that Captain America / Steve Rogers was not one of those who died at that time. The writers (and producers) of these films, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, obviously wanted to have another type of future outcome for Cape Town different from the others.
Nobody understood that a trip back in time would be the ultimate destiny for him, even if it was not really an end.
Brewing in the back of the creative minds of Markus and McFeely was something much more sinister for Captain America in Avengers: End of the game. Rather than taking this horrible path, they did not hesitate to use their specific method of death for the central villain.

According to the authors, during a recent appearance at Comic-Con, they revealed that Captain America would have his 2014 head decapitated by Thanos and brought in 2023 to taunt Rogers. On top of that, Thanos would kill all Avengers during the same period.
Fans were initially shocked to hear this idea and imagine how it could have unfolded. When someone on Reddit posted this story, the answer was an answer of disbelief, they never thought about the idea, considering that they should have gone through the studio heads. Disney.
A fan replied: "For real, can you imagine being at the theater and that happened?" I would have stepped out of my seat.
What might make this ironic for some people is the idea of imagining Markus and McFeely transforming this idea into a Disney costume and having executives say "no beheadings". They finally had a beheading, although Thanos' head was thanked by Thor and Stormbreaker.
Will there still be a death for Captain America in a future movie?
Many fans were pleased to see Steve Rogers escape from the past and live his life with Peggy Carter. This does not mean that there will be no chance of seeing Captain America again someday, if it is not perhaps Chris Evans who plays the role.
Again, do not count his return because we have already heard of a new Thor movie in green, perhaps not including a series of Disney Cap Plus. The question is, in what form will we see Captain America? Will we see the death of Steve Rogers as an old man at the moment, or is there an alternative / young version to explore in a modern sense?
If they complicate too much and kill Captain America somewhere in time, they risk losing all logical sense. More than likely, Captain America will continue to live without seeing a shocking death. Having it in the limbo of time offered at least a creative way to write it temporarily without it being an end.
