Following the multiple terrorist attacks on Easter Sunday and the explosions and shooting that erupted on Friday, the Sri Lankan government pbaded an emergency law making it unacceptable to wear clothing that conceals the face.
The new rule came into effect on Monday, eight days after the bombings of churches and hotels that killed more than 250 people in several places. The law prohibiting the veil of the face was introduced by order of President Maithripala Sirisena, who was warned that more activists would still be fleeing despite multiple arrests.
In addition to the ban on the facial veil, a number of other measures have been taken to avoid another terrorist attack. Catholic Mbades have been banned for the moment.
Sri Lankan Catholics celebrated Mbad at home yesterday in their homes on a TV show while the nation-island churches were shocked by the fear of militant attacks.
