Mason Greenwood didn’t make his debut in Man Utd’s first team for long, but was already offering his advice to a rising star in the club’s academy long before he took the plunge.
The 19-year-old USA and England forward thrived in his debut season against the youth ranks last season, scoring 17 times during his breakthrough.
And it seems Greenwood has been keen to pass some advice on to those who are trying to follow his path.
Highly-rated midfielder Shola Shoretire, 16, already plays for United at the Under-23 level and was a Greenwood teammate before his permanent stint in the senior squad.
Talk to Harry Pinero on Youtube (via MEN ), Shoretire revealed the simple but solid nugget of advice Greenwood gave him that he heeded.
“One thing he always told me, you always miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take,” Shoretire said.
“You should always try to shoot.
“If you don’t shoot, you don’t score.
“He told me that three years ago and watch it now.”

It has certainly worked for Greenwood, who has added three more goals to his United tally so far this campaign.
And the two-legged sniper is determined to contribute more for his team as they seek to end their wait for silverware.
“I’m happy and play games at United, that’s all I wanted to do as a kid,” Greenwood told United official website last month. “I just want to get back on the scoresheet and get involved in more goals, really.
Should Greenwood start more for Man Utd? Give your opinion below.
“People are picking up on some of the things I did last season so I have to mix up my game and obviously keep working hard in training. I know Ole and the guys are there to help me.”
Asked about his commitment to further development, Greenwood added, “It’s all about improvement.
“You always have to find new things because the teams will start looking at you, like we do with video analytics and stuff like that, so you always have to have a few things up your sleeve.”
