Ghana's run to the 2019 Nations Cup of Nations ended in the round of 16 after a defeat on penalties against Tunisia on Monday night.
The Carthage Eagles won the shootout 5-4 and clashed Thursday against Madagascar.
A goal from Rami Bedoui canceled Taha Khenissi's strike in the second half as the match started in injury time and then shootout.
The Tunisians converted all their shots on goal with Ghana's only fault coming from striker Caleb Ekuban.
After a dominant first half, Kbadim Nuhu hits the post with a header. André Ayew's rebound was trimmed by the Tunisian goalkeeper.
Two minutes before half-time, the Black Stars took advantage when Andre Ayew threw the ball into the net but the goal was canceled by the referee.
The referee insists that the ball hit Thomas Partey's hand during the goal preparation, but the TV rebroadcasts proved that the decision was wrong.
The Black Stars continued to dominate after the break, while Jordan Ayew put the goalkeeper in the lead in the 53rd minute.
Tunisians, however, improved their game and started to create their own chances. In the 70th minute, Taha Khenissi controlled a fine pbad into the box and fired a shot in the lower-left corner, but the ball was cleared.
Two minutes later, Khenissi again, this time he crushed the bar with a powerful header from a corner.
But Khenissi was quick to redeem himself as he tried a low center to place the Carthage Eagles in the 73rd minute.
In the 81st minute, Wakaso fired a shot all around the penalty spot and headed to the left side of the target. Mouez Hbaden was alert, made a great save and parried the ball to the post.
With the remaining three minutes, Black Stars tied forcing the game in overtime. The goal comes from the head of Tunisian substitute defender Rami Bedoui.
Ghana was the best in overtime. Jordan missed a glorious opportunity to seal the win before Kwabena Owusu hit the goalkeeper directly with the last kick.
The Black Stars converted four against the five Tunisians while the Carthage Eagles defeated the Black Stars for the first time in 56 years.
