Robert Lewandowski scored in Bayern Munich's victory at Hoffenheim
Reigning champions Bayern Munich revived the Bundesliga with a 3-1 win at Hoffenheim on Friday to signal their lead to Borussia Dortmund.
Robert Lewandowski sealed the win late to narrow the gap to his former three-point team after 18 games.
It was Bayern's sixth consecutive win, stabilizing the team after a flicker early in the season.
Leon Goretzka scored twice in the first period for the visitors. He gave the advantage to his team in the 35th minute, converting the rebound after Robert Lewandowski's head was saved.
The 23-year-old qualified 2-0 just before the break, but Bayern made an impressive performance in the league's first game after a four-week winter break.
Hoffenheim, who had dominated much of the first 45 minutes, pulled Nico Schulz back just before the hour.
Bayern captain Manuel Neuer then made a great save to prevent Adam Szalai from returning to equalization in the 7th minute.
But Bayern finally protected their points when Lewandowski scored four minutes later with his 11th league goal of the season.
Dortmund will be visiting RB Leipzig on Saturday and will be able to restore his six-point advantage with a win.
