Tottenham boss, Mauricio Pochettino, admitted for the first time that it will be difficult for them to settle in their new stadium during this campaign.
The Argentinian has a "hunch" that White Hart Lane will not be ready until next season, but Harry Kane and Dele Alli are ahead of their recovery after an injury.
Tottenham's home games against Leicester City on Saturday and Arsenal next month will take place at Wembley, but the venue of their last five home matches in the Premier League is undecided.
Mauricio Pochettino thinks it will be difficult for Tottenham to settle on his new pitch this season
Pochettino wants to move to the new land as soon as possible. He would even take a possible decision maker of the title of the last day as the first match. But the fear of not moving into stadiums at 850 million pounds sterling and seating 62,000 until summer is very real.
"My feeling is that it's going to be hard, but my wish, my hope and my dream is to finish this season by playing in the new stadium," said Pochettino.
"We'll see if you can trust my instinct or the ability to finish the stage before the end of the season. My instinct will be hard, but I hope and wish to be in the new stadium playing.
The Spurs are desperate to settle as soon as possible and club sources say the Premier League continues to support their bid.
The players have expressed their desire to get away from Wembley and the attendance at the national stadium for Tottenham's home games is decreasing as fans get impatient. "My opinion is to move, if we can play one or five games, I want to move," added Pochettino.
Tottenham has positive news with Harry Kane approaching his return from injury
Tottenham are only five points behind Manchester City and Liverpool in the title race and Pochettino thinks they will reach their highest level of power in the coming weeks. A victory at Tottenham on Sunday will reduce the gap to Manchester City by two points before he meets Chelsea later in the day.
Kane, ankle injury against Manchester United three weeks ago, is training and is ready to turn around after this week's games against Leicester and Borussia Dortmund.
Pochettino added, "He's fine. You know very well that we have to stop him every day because he wants to be ahead of his recovery. He is almost ready to play, but we must also be realistic and make the best decision. He is so close to coming back. Not for Sunday, not for Wednesday, but we'll see after.
Pochettino described the clash between Tottenham and Leicester as "a cup final" on Saturday
At first, it was feared that Kane and Alli would be out until mid-March, but Alli kicked off the ball during a trip to Dubai with behind-the-scenes staff this week. "With the upcoming return of Dele and Harry, this will give us more ability to manage the team and the players – and this will give us the ability to be more powerful," said Pochettino.
"But for me, the most important game is this (against Leicester): we have to win. It's like a cup final. I know that no one will agree with me, but in my mind, this game is essential if we want to be there to fight until the end.
"Our ambition is to be there until the end, to be a realistic competitor."
