The Spurs manager tells talkSPORT that his team will go to Madrid full of conviction to win the European Cup for the first time

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that Harry Kane could be fit enough to start on the bench for his Champions League final against Liverpool.

And he invited the England captain to play a "decisive" role in their 100% English clash in Madrid, even if he does not make his starting lineup.

Kane faces a race for the May 1 showdown in Spain after suffering an ankle injury six weeks ago, missing nine matches in all competitions.

Supporters were encouraged to see the attacker run again as he joined the party after witnessing the magnificent return to the semi-finals of his teammates against Ajax.

But the attacker has just resumed training the first team and, speaking exclusively to talkSPORT, Pochettino did not want to know if Kane would be involved or not.

However, Argentina has hinted that it could be the secret weapon of the Spurs against Jurgen Klopp's Reds.

When asked if Kane would play, he told Laura Woods of talkSPORT, "We do not know.

"His evolution is very good. This week, he is about to start working with the group again, but we still can not say whether he will be available or not.

"We are happy with the way he is recovering and we hope he will be available as soon as possible.

"It's so important to have Harry Kane fit, to have more opportunities [to score].

"But you can start the game without being important, and you can continue to play, while remaining the important player, the decisive player. The match may last 90 minutes or 120 minutes with penalties. "

The Spurs enter the final after already losing twice, at home and away, against Liverpool in the Premier League this season.

But Pochettino insists that his team is confident of being able to qualify for the podium and to win the European Cup for the first time in its history.

"It's a final, so it will be a completely different match from the Premier League," added Argentina.

"By the way, in the last game we played at Anfield, we deserved a lot more, which gives us the conviction that we can beat them.

"We believe we can beat them. We go there thinking that we can win.

"We will not go there to compete or to enjoy it. Our mentality is to go there and win the final.

"Liverpool are a very good team but our conviction is there and we will fight to win."
