MAURIZIO SARRI may soon find his former star Kalidou Koulibaly if he became the head of Juventus, according to reports.
The Serie A champions are looking for a new central defender this summer. The star of Napoli figures prominently on their wish list.
According to Tuttosport, Juventus hopes relations between Sarri and Koulibaly, 27, will increase their chances of signing the Senegalese defender.
The two men had worked together in Naples before the Italian coach's training at Chelsea last summer.
After fruitful discussions with the Blues, Juve plans to confirm that Sarri, 60, will be his new boss this week.
But they have trouble convincing their Serie A rivals to approve a contract with Koulibaly.
Any transaction must be approved by the club's president, Aurelio De Laurentiis – a tough negotiator, aware of the historical tensions between the two fierce rivals.
MISSING ON LIGT
Juventus and Naples have not concluded a single agreement since the transfer of Gonzalo Higuain to Turin in 2016.
But the old lady did not need the blessing of De Laurentiis at the time thanks to a release clause in the contract of Argentina.
Club legend Andrea Barzagli, 38, has left Turin while Giorgio Chiellini is 35 in August.
And since Matthijs de Ligt's first choice seems to be about to sign for Barcelona, Koulibaly has emerged as an alternative plan.
But Napoli does not expect less than 89 million pounds for his star.
The center-back is a long-term target for Manchester United.
However, Real Madrid has joined the race for the defender, carrying a blow to the transfer plans of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
