Kelowna Mayor Colin Basran was flying paper planes with his two children this weekend, but it was not just for fun.
The three Basrans participated in the Pacific Autism Network's Paper Plane Challenge, which aimed to raise awareness about autism spectrum disorder.
At present, one in 66 people is suffering from this disease and as April is Autism Awareness Month, the challenge was a good time to fly a paper airplane "for all autistic children in Kelowna", said Basran.
Basran then asked Josh Gorges, Mitch Carefoot and Kelsey Serwa to create their own planes, videotape themselves and name three more to take up the challenge and help raise awareness.
To follow all the awareness of paper planes, follow the hashtag #paperplaneawareness.
