OTTAWA – Mazda is recalling more than 200,000 compact Mazda 3 cars in the United States and Canada as windshield wipers can fail.
The company says in documents released Saturday by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the recall concerns cars from the 2016 to 2018 model years.
The Japanese automaker attributed the problem to metal deposits that could cause a wiper relay to lock up, knock them out and limit driver visibility.
It indicates that there has been no report of an accident or injury due to the problem.
According to Transport Canada, the recall involves more than 51,000 units in Canada.
It indicates that owners can bring their vehicle to a dealer for replacement of the front body control module.
