MCE for Weija-Gbawe Municipality Gets 100% Approval

Mr. Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor, outgoing head of the municipal executive of the Municipal Assembly of Weija-Gbawe in the Greater Accra region, was approved by the members of the Assembly.

The confirmation was conducted and supervised by the Municipal Office of the Electoral Commission (EC) on Friday, October 1, 2021.

Assembly members and government officials from the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly have publicly announced their intention to give Mr. Kumor popular acclaim.

This unprecedented demand was, however, rejected by the Electoral Commission on the grounds that members of the assembly had to vote. At the close of the polling stations, Mr. Kumor obtained 100% of the YES vote.

Addressing the assembly, Mr. Kumor expressed his gratitude to HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for reappointing him for the post of MCE. He also thanked all the members of the Municipality Assembly for the confidence they had placed in him.

He further thanked the supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the traditional leaders and the people of the whole municipality for their support.

“I particularly thank the media houses within the jurisdiction for their adherence to professionalism throughout the confirmation process, and would like to indicate that I will avail myself at the appropriate time for further deliberations on the issues of our municipality,” a added.

He assured everyone gathered that he would continue to pursue pro-poor policies to bring sustainable development to the municipality.

Grand Regional Minister Hon. Henry Quartey instructed Mr. Kumor to continue the well-intentioned programs and activities of the assembly.

“I hope that Mr Kumor will devote his energy to tackling the challenges which have systematically become detrimental to the development of the Assembly,” said Mr Quartey.
