JACKSON, MS. (WVLT / WLOX) – A contagious measles case crossed the state of Mississippi from Tennessee between April 9th and 11th.
Several Mississippians could have been exposed, according to the WVLT News affiliate, WLOX. The first case of measles in Tennessee has been documented in the east of the state, according to the Tennessee Department of Health.
Until now, the areas in question are a Subway restaurant in a Circle K in Hattiesburg on April 9th from 2pm to 4pm. The patient also went to a Raising Canes in Hattiesburg on April 10th from 10pm to 11pm.
The health department is actively investigating these areas and informing those with whom it may have been in contact.
They also encourage anyone who has not received MMR measles vaccine to receive it.
Measles can spread in the air and is very contagious. If you think you have been exposed, contact a doctor. Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes and rash.
