The Oregon Health Authority confirmed Wednesday three new measles cases in Multnomah County, bringing to four the total number of confirmed cases in Oregon.

The OHA said three new cases had been confirmed among people in close contact with a resident of Multnomah County who had tested positive for measles on Jan. 25.

Another case of measles has been confirmed in King County, Washington State.

According to Clark County Public Health, all laboratory results from confirmed cases correspond to a wild-type, vaccine-preventable and circulating strain in Eastern Europe.

Symptoms of measles begin with fever, cough, runny nose and red eyes, followed by a rash that usually starts on the face and spreads to the rest of the body.

Health officials invite anyone who thinks they have been exposed in an identified location and has symptoms of calling their health care provider before going to their office.
