Former president, John Agyekum Kufuor, urges media practitioners, especially investigative journalists, who expose corrupt officials to accurate and accurate reporting.
He argues that the essential purpose of journalism is to search for information, to verify it, to badimilate it and to report it objectively.
Because of the human nature of man, Mr. Kufuor said that journalists who, in their work, make mistakes and misrepresentations must be humble and apologize to those involved for having them defamed.
Speaking at the official launch of the 70th anniversary of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in Accra, the former president said that journalists who refuse to apologize without reservation must be confronted with music, their attitude that undermines the image of the GJA.
He added that it was crucial that the president of the GJA, as well as its leaders, monitor its members and ensure that the rights of the people and the government as a whole are not violated.
