MILAN (Reuters) – Italian media group Mediaset said on Saturday that it is not in talks for a merger with German rival Prosiebensat1 Media, denying news reports.
Earlier Saturday, the daily Il Sole 24 Ore had announced that the two companies were merging via an exchange of shares to create an independent pan-European broadcaster.
"No discussion is underway for a merger with the German TV group Prosiebensat1 Media," Mediaset said in a statement.
