The federal government and Labor have committed to fund cardiovascular health badessments to save lives.

"It means a better chance for people to undergo proper testing with their doctor," said Health Minister Greg Hunt at Sunday's Nine's Weekend Today show.

Checks will be available via Medicare from April.
WADA welcomed the commitment made by the two major parties to invest an additional $ 170 million over five years for general practice.
