A young Ghanaian girl simply identified as Abena recounted how she managed to live “among the dead” at Osu Cemetery in Accra.
In an interview with EyeGhana seen by YEN.com.gh On the organization’s official YouTube handle, Abena mentioned that she was generally scared but had no choice but to face the situation.
According to her, she has made a bold move to stay with her boyfriend who resides at the cemetery as he cannot afford more comfortable accommodation.

Abena, who appears to be in her late teens or early twenties, said that when she moved to join her boyfriend early on, she couldn’t control herself as she feared for a moment that one of the corpses emerge from the grave.
“But my boyfriend told me that when I die, I will also be put among them, so I should not be afraid because they are gone and cannot move or go out,” she recalls.
Now the young woman is able to cope with day to day even though she is anxiously awaiting a day when they have the opportunity to leave the dead and join the living.
In an earlier report by YEN.com.gh, Anita Asieduwaa Ama Nkrumah, 22, a high school graduate, lost her life after a dump truck crushed her while she was cooking in her kitchen.
According to adomonline.com, the sad incident occurred in Senchi-Amanfrom in the Asuogyaman district of the Eastern region over the weekend.
It is reported that the truck was on a dusty road as it tried to negotiate a sharp curve when the driver lost control and swerved out of the road into the structure the young woman was cooking in.
