The West African Examination Council (WAEC) recognized three students with the WAEC International Excellence Awards for their outstanding performance at WASSCE May / June 2018 at the 67th WAEC Annual Meeting in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
The three students are Peter Arotiba, 17, from Nigeria, Wilhermina Opoku and Brago Afrifa, both from Ghana.
Peter, a former student of the Nigerian Airforce Secondary School, became the best candidate in the subregion with eight A1's in the May / June 2018 WASSCE, beating over 1.9 million candidates who pbaded the exam .

Wilhermina, 18, a former student of Wesley Girls High School in Ghana, and Brago, a former student of Yaa Asantewaa Girls SHS, also in Ghana, became second and third.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Abiodun Aduloju, head of public affairs at WAEC headquarters in Accra, Ghana, said the three students were coming out of the 1.9 million students from Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone. examinations.
Aduloju pointed out that the best Augustus Bandele Oyediran candidate in West Africa had also been introduced to Master Peter Arotiba.
