The Daily Graphic is stunned to find that this situation lasted all these years without being resolved once and for all, as newly recruited teachers, including those who were engaged for the dual track system, as well as others who have been promoted. , have not been paid nor put on the right salary scale for months.

But there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel.

In fact, according to the Ghana Education Service (GES) management, it organized a series of meetings with the Comptroller and Accountant General's Department (CAGD), the Public Utilities Commission (PSC) and the Ministry of Finance to resolve problems in salary treatment for GHG staff that has, to date, left more than 9,000 newly recruited staff in the dual stream education system starting in November 2018 and other new teachers recruited earlier in March 201 without their first salary.

This is good news. However, we do not want to be jubilant, because over the years, the authorities have given very juicy badurances to end the annual ritual of delays in the payment of teachers' salaries, all in vain.

To the extent that we note that wages will be paid, we believe that no soldier walks empty stomach, hence the little retribution that these new teachers should give them at the same time. in advance, so that they have the peace of mind to teach our children.

We can not deny that teachers play a crucial role in the lives of children during their formative years and that they become responsible citizens of the country. Many students copy their teachers, their writing, their mannerisms and their way of walking. This indicates that what children learn from their teachers from an early age will likely remain with them in some ways for the rest of their lives.
